Where Neighbors Gather
Neighbors gather at Broadway Bubble for free coffee and snacks, to engage in learning activities, and to find supportive resources, both in the laundromat itself and in the adjacent community hub.
Time is a sacred resource and doing laundry can be a time-consuming necessity. The Broadway Bubble is designed to be a place where our guests can recapture some of the time they would normally lose doing laundry to connect with learning activities and supportive resources.
The Kingston Midtown Rising team assists in this process, helping guests to address needs and facilitating their connection to relevant outside resources, including the development of additional programming to address long-term well-being through mobility mentoring. Many of our guests face significant obstacles related to the effects of poverty and systemic racism, including substance use disorder, underemployment, hunger, mental and physical health illness, immigration issues, lack of shelter and/or domestic violence. We offer laundry with love, using the laundromat and hub as a space where we can accompany our guests through navigating these issues and as they grow beyond them, inspiring and investing in growth, resilience and stability.
Kingston Midtown Rising and Broadway Bubble operate with a staff of twelve, including a laundromat manager and seven laundromat employees, most of whom live in Kingston.
Languages spoken on site are predominantly Spanish, English and Q’eqchi’.
